To most of shops in Bali (excluding those with fixed price) bargaining is part of the culture and it should be a fun activity. There are some useful tips for you to practise:

• No matter how much the vendors give as the 'opening' price , you can bargain for as much as half of the price.
• Even if you are really want the thing in the shop, try not to be so apparent, vendor can smell your desire and will take advantage by putting the price high
• Since many shops practically sell the same items, you can always walk away form one shop to another if a deal cannot be concluded, but walk slowly. Normally if you offer reasonable price on a bargain and the vendor can still make some profit, the vendor will call you back to his shop as you walk away.
